Serendipity means seemingly making lucky breaks or discoveries.

The subject of luck is a great one. Dr Richard Wiseman's entertaining books on the subject are well worth reading, and I still love the golfer Gary Player's quote:

"The more I practise, the luckier I seem to get."

The fact is this. If you go into business to sell or provide something that people actually want and you set yourself up properly and try to do as best as you can, one thing above all will surprise you.

Chances will come your way. And do you know what? The more you market yourself, the more you will sell, the more you sell, the more profit you will make. The more profits and the busier the company, the more people will be drawn to you. This is a recurring story in the lives of all successful business people.

Tips for being lucky:

1, Work at making your business a success
2, Get great at marketing
3, Work out who you are and what you stand for
4, Give outstanding customer service
5, Learn to understand and influence others
6, Be open to new experiences and be prepared to try new things
7, Meet and talk to new people. Smile when you meet them too!
8, Keep up to date with what's happening
