Marketing is the process of understanding; who might be interested in buying your particular resource, how valuable your resource might be to them, and finding the means of bringing your resource and those people together.
Doesn't that sound easy when you put it like that?
The key as we'll discover is to keep that definition in mind. Marketing deals with human behaviour so is an incredibly deep and complex subject but to practise it is straight forward. Successful business people will remember that whatever they are doing in marketing it must fulfill that definition and ultimately do it as profitably as possible.
Simple questions you need to ask yourself before we explore this further:
Who makes up my market?
How many are there out there?
How many of them do I aleady know?
Where are they based/ do they live?
When and how often do they need me?
Why would they be interested in me or my resourse?
Many businesses will fall at this first hurdle. They don't really understand what they're aiming at before they start to fire!
